and No one goes to Heaven for any good deeds and repenting they do according to Ephesians 2:8-9

I believe someone could beg and beg and beg and beg and beg God to forgive them for the sins they’ve committed but that's not how God forgives humans  and I believe that there is nothing wrong with saying I'm sorry to God for my sins and also in Job 1:6 I learned that there is a heavenly court, which is a picture of God ruling over a courtroom or council in heaven. 

The key elements of the courtroom or council in heaven seen across Scripture:

1. There's a Judge (God is the Judge) according to Psalm 82:1 NLT

2.There are heavenly beings who gather in the presence of God. Job 2:1 gives us a glimpse of this heavenly assembly, where the “heavenly beings” came to present themselves before the LORD, and Satan came among them.

3.There is an accuser—Satan plays this role, bringing accusations against God’s people. Revelation 12:10 NLT describes Satan as “the accuser of our brothers and sisters,” who accuses them before God day and night. (satan is playing THAT ROLE)

4.There is a defender and advocate (That is Jesus Christ) according to Romans 8:34 and 1 John 2:1

5.There is a verdict: one person is declared justified before God, while another is not. In Luke 18:14, Jesus says that the tax collector "returned home justified before God.”

Luke 18:13-14 NLT

13 “But the tax collector stood at a distance and dared not even lift his eyes to heaven as he prayed. Instead, he beat his chest in sorrow, saying, ‘O God, be merciful to me, for I am a sinner.’ 14 I tell you, this sinner, not the Pharisee, returned home justified before God. For those who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those who humble themselves will be exalted.”

So yes: in practice, ‘O God, be merciful to me, for I am a sinner.’ is basically the same thing as asking for forgiveness.

I believe the best way to get closer to God is found in Acts 2:38-39 NLT

38 Peter replied, “Each of you must repent of your sins and turn to God, and be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. Then you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. 39 This promise is to you, to your children, and to those far away—all who have been called by the Lord our God.”

and this is who is called 

Luke 5:32 NLT

32 I have come to call not those who think they are righteous, but those who know they are sinners and need to repent.”

So we need to repent and trust in the blood of Jesus. When we put our faith in Jesus, His blood cleanses us from all sin, and God forgives us—not because we have never sinned, but because Jesus paid the price for our sins.

We need to change our hearts (the inner person—the place of our thoughts, desires, motives, will, and affections, from which our outward life flows.) and turn back to God and continue to trust in Jesus and His blood, knowing that His sacrifice is sufficient to cleanse us from all sin.

Hebrews 10:25-26 NLT

"And let us not neglect our meeting together, as some people do, but encourage one another, especially now that the day of his return is drawing near. Dear friends, if we deliberately continue sinning after we have received knowledge of the truth, there is no longer any sacrifice that will cover these sins."

In Matthew 11:20-21 NLT Jesus began to denounce towns for not repenting of their sins 

So we should repent 

Hebrews 9:22 NLT states plainly that without the shedding of blood, there is no forgiveness.

19 And so, dear brothers and sisters, we can boldly enter heaven’s Most Holy Place because of the blood of Jesus.

I believe it could help a lot if you Made a list of problem areas based upon Matthew 6:15, Galatians 5:19-22, Mark 7:21-23, Colossians 3:5-8 , Ephesians 4:25-32 and, Revelation 22:15

then say something like I'm sorry Jesus and I trust that you died on the cross for the forgiveness of my sins Jesus and I'm forgiven and I believe that I am now forgiven and I repent of those problem areas in the name of Jesus 

 and make a conscious choice to change your behavior for the better and give your life and follow Jesus your soul lives forever 

To repent means to feel deep regret or sorrow for something wrong you have done and to decide to change your behavior for the better. according to Google
